FinUp

Privacy policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

FinUp helps households keep track of their shared income and expenses. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and password. The password is stored only as a secure hash, never as you typed it.
  • If you sign in with Google: the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us.
  • What you add to a household: its name and currency, its members and their roles, invites, categories, and the transactions you record, with their amounts, dates, descriptions and notes.
  • Sign-in sessions: when you sign in, we store your session with your IP address and browser type, to keep you signed in and protect your account.
  • Preferences: your language, theme and current household are remembered in cookies and your browser’s storage.

How we use it

Only to run FinUp: to sign you in, to show a household’s data to its members and keep it in sync between them, and to keep accounts secure.

We don’t sell your data, show ads, use analytics, or track you across other sites.

Who can see it

  • The members of a household see its data, including the transactions other members add, and the name and email address of everyone in it.
  • Our service providers: Vercel hosts FinUp, and our database provider stores its data. They handle it only to provide those services to us.
  • Authorities, if the law requires us to disclose it.

Google user data

FinUp asks Google only for your basic profile: your name, email address and profile picture. We use it to create your account and sign you in, and for nothing else. We don’t share it with anyone.

FinUp’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your language. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can leave a household at any time from its settings.

To delete your account and the data tied to it, email us at the address below and we’ll delete it within 30 days.

Security

Connections to FinUp are encrypted, and passwords are stored only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

Children

FinUp isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
